The JBACE is seeking an individual or team with forestry expertise to assist in the review of the tactical integrated forest development plans (PAFIT) for the 2023-2028 period.

The James Bay Advisory Committee on the Environment (JBACE) has the mandate to review and to comment on the forest management plans applicable in the territory subject to Section 22 of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement (JBNQA) prior to their ministerial approval. In the context of the implementation of the Sustainable Forest Development Act (RLRQ ch. A-18.1), the JBACE will review the next generation of tactical integrated forest development plans (commonly and hereafter referred to by their French acronym, ‘PAFITs’ – ‘plans d’aménagement forestier intégré tactique’) that will apply for the 2023-2028 period.

The Ministère des Forêts, de la Faune et des Parcs (MFFP) plans to table the draft PAFITs for the territory in the fall of 2022. The JBNQA affords 90 days to the JBACE to study the plans and to submit comments.

The JBACE is seeking an individual or team with forestry expertise to assist in the review of the PAFITs. The individual or team will be required to refer to the JBACE’s review parameters and analyses elements, and must also refer to the review approach and indicators that will be approved by the JBACE in advance. Please see the call for proposals (document in French) for details.

The deadline for submission of proposals is September 23, 2022.
