In 2017-2018, the Cree, provincial and federal governments’ legislative and regulatory agendas were particularly busy and the JBACE commented several major legislative environmental revisions from all levels of government.
The JBNQA Territory is subject to diverse pressures as a result of the expansion of human occupation and the development of its natural resources. It is recognized that the institutions and procedures stemming from the JBNQA contribute to ensuring the participation of the Cree in decisions and in the protection of the Territory and of Cree rights.
